Action Tutoring is an education charity that provide action tutoring to unlock the potential of children and young people leaving primary and secondary school. The organisation is an official provider for the National Tutoring Programme (NTP), a government initiative to support disadvantaged pupils to recover from the educational disruption caused by COVID-19.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will support children preparing for their SATs (ages 9-11) or GCSEs (ages 14-16) to make meaningful academic progress, opening doors to future opportunities. As a Volunteer Tutor, you will increase your subject knowledge while building confidence and study skills.
Typical duties include:
- Evaluating pupils` current knowledge, strengths, and areas for improvement in English and Maths;
- Planning and preparing lessons in a clear and concise manner;
- Explaining concepts and teaching study and problem-solving skills;
- Monitoring progress and improving pupil’s confidence and motivation;
