Summary
Celia obtained her PhD in 2017 in Analytical Chemistry, The Open University, UK (Marie Curie Fellowship, FP7-PEOPLE-2011-ITN) and she is a chemical engineer by background. Her PhD project involved mass spectrometry-based metabolomics in health monitoring, through the use of the analysis of volatile organic compounds allowing the screening and monitoring of different diseases and conditions, non-invasively and painlessly. She has experience as postdoctoral researcher and has contributed to several research projects across different areas of research.
Celia's area of expertise includes trace gas analysis in different sample matrices carried out through the use of highly sensitive mass spectrometry-based analytical techniques. Her research interests include the study of the chemical processes involving metabolites, biomarker discovery, gas phase ion chemistry, reaction kinetics, environment and health, chemical exposure.
In 2010, she joined the chemical industry, Hovione FarmaCiencia SA, as a trainee in R&D Analytical Chemistry Department, where she has gathered initial skills in mass spectrometry and chromatography.
